Don’t believe in magic

During the past 30 years that I have worked in the local Real Estate Industry I have seen many new agents or agencies who claim to have a new “magic” way to sell real estate!

The simple fact is that real estate is about relationship building, strong marketing, industry knowledge and hard work.  Discount agents and agencies have failed numerous times over the years by trying to offer a discounted fee with discounted marketing, unfortunately this also means a discounted service and discounted results. Our job as a real estate professional is to get you, ‘our client’ the best possible price for your home; there is no “magic” to it and certainly no shortcuts if you want the best buyer and the maximum possible sale price.  As the following story shows, even if you think you`ve had an amazing win it may only be temporary and the “magic” will soon vanish.

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, “I’ll give each of you just one wish” who wants to go first says the manager? “Me! Me!” says the admin clerk. “I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.” Poof! She’s gone. “Me next! Me next!” says the sales rep. “I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.” Poof! He’s gone. “OK, you’re up,” the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, “I want those two back in the office after lunch.”

Remember: If it seems too good to be true it probably is!

Have a great weekend!
