Brick vs Timber vs Straw

Often, we encounter buyers who have a preference for a certain type of house construction. When we ask why they have chosen a certain preference it generally relates to one of two things:

  1. If their preference is brick or masonry the reason given is generally relates to ongoing maintenance.
  2. If their preference is timber or fibro it is generally because they wish to renovate, or do additions to the existing home, or sometimes they feel these homes have more character

When selling your home your real estate agent should be able to portray your home in a positive light and point out its obvious advantages regardless of its construction type to all buyers.

We all remember the story of the “Three Little Pigs” and the house of straw, when the first little pig went looking for building materials for his first home, a teacher was reading the story to her six year olds and said “… and so the pig went up to the man with the wheelbarrow full of straw and said, “pardon me Sir but may I have some of your straw to build a house?” The teacher paused and asked the class “what do you think the man said to the pig?” very quickly six year old Tommy put up his hand and said “I think the man would have said – well I’ll be dammed a talking pig!”

The teacher had to leave the room.

Whether your home is made of bricks, timber or even straw we have plenty of new “Springtime” buyers knocking on our door! If you’re thinking of selling just pick up the phone and talk to one of our highly trained friendly team, “no huff and puff”, just good friendly real estate advice!
